Step into the Highlands at Cuilcheanna House, crafted for wanderers and wonderers.
Unforgettable experiences.
Whether you like hiking, history, or water adventures, the area around Onich, Fort William, Glencoe and Ardnamurchan is full of memorable and magical things to do. Here are some of our favourites.
-

Glenfinnan Viaduct.
Made world-famous by the Harry Potter films, visit this iconic railway bridge and watch the Jacobite Steam Train puff across its 21 arches. With spectacular views over Loch Shiel, enjoy the legendary landing place of Bonnie Prince Charlie.
-

Ben Nevis.
Britain’s highest mountain is a classic destination for hikers and climbers. “The Ben” is a strenuous hike and part of the famous Three Peaks Challenge. The Visitor Centre is your gateway for weather updates and route advice.
-

Steall Falls.
One of Scotland’s highest and most beautiful waterfalls, reached by a two-mile scenic walk through Glen Nevis. Ideal for photographers and nature lovers, the path is uneven and rocky in places but regularly enjoyed by families.
-

Cuilcheanna Beach.
Wander down to the beach through the field in front of the house and enjoy spectacular views of Glencoe and Ardnamurchan. Swim, paddle board or rent our kayaks and maybe you’ll meet our local seal, Cecilia. Look out for the ancient standing stone along the bay.
-

Lost Valley, Glencoe.
Known locally as Coire Gabhail, the trail takes you through a dramatic landscape of steep scree and hidden meadows once used by the Highland clans. This is an adventurous hike but more accessible than some of the mountain-topping climbs in Glencoe.
-

West Highland Way.
Scotland’s best-loved long-distance walking trail covers 96 miles from Milngavie, near Glasgow, to Fort William, passing lochs, moorland, and highland scenery - finish (or begin) your adventure at Fort William, only a short drive from Cuilcheanna House.
-

Highland Cinema.
An independent, community-owned cinema in Fort William, this warm and welcoming movie theatre offers films, local events, and a dog-friendly café-bar and pizzeria - perfect for a rainy afternoon or a rest after a big day out.
-

Beinn a' Bheithir.
This classic Highland ridge walk starts from Ballachulish, taking in two “Munros” (peaks over 1,000 metres) with panoramic views of mountains, lochs and Cuilcheanna House. A rewarding challenge for experienced walkers.
-

Inchree Trail Run.
Run from Cuilcheanna House towards the village of Inchree. Pick up the waterfall trail then join the forest track heading through Glen Righ, with changing views of Loch Linnhe. We can show visitors the best running routes from the front door.
